Walking Away the Stress

Today was a beautiful day in South Carolina! Over the past few months, we have had cold rainy weather, but not today. Today the sun was shining, there was a light breeze and even though we know we have more coldness coming our way, today felt like spring.

Sometimes it can be very good for you to get out and walk, maybe even when you do not feel up to it. Yesterday I was not feeling good at all :( but today I was better. So I decided to go outside and make myself walk. I did not plan on how long I was going to stay out there or if I was going to walk around here or there. I just knew I needed to go outside and walk. Hell, I was okay with just going out there and standing in one place lol. Even if only to take a few deep breaths.

Whether you are not feeling good because of sickness or because of stress, moving can help. Did you know that when you are stressed out that your body releases a hormone called Cortisol? Cortisol interferes with memory, increases weight gain, cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart disease. But when you walk your body releases Endorphins. Endorphins interact with the receptors in your brain that help you to reduce your perception of pain and stress.

Everyone has stress going on in their lives. Stress at work, stress at home, stress on the road, even stress when looking online. One way that you can help fight your stress and be able to relax is to go walking. Walking can help you to release the stress of the day and it will help you feel renewed.

So walk today, even if only for a few minutes.
